Mary Urban: Blending Art, Nature, and Community

Mary Urban is an artist whose work reflects a deep connection to both nature and artistic tradition. Growing up amidst the scenic beauty of Vermont’s countryside, she was encouraged from an early age to pursue her passion for art. This passion led her to study graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. However, the call of her peaceful rural home drew her back, where she and her brother opened an organic coffee and tea house—a space dedicated to fostering community and creative exchange. “Coffee, tea, and café culture has always been a great passion to me, as it tends to bring communities and fellow artists together for conversations and the bouncing of bold ideas,” she reflects.

Mary’s artistic process is deeply influenced by her love of art history. Immersing herself in stacks of art books, she absorbs inspiration from past masters before channeling their influence into her own distinctive imagery. Known for her versatility, she works in a range of media and styles, from illustrative and whimsical to classical and timeless. Whether sketching outside beneath the canopy of a giant maple tree or experimenting with new techniques in her studio, Mary’s work captures the beauty of her surroundings while celebrating the joy of creativity.

With a style that resonates across a variety of formats, Mary Urban’s art continues to bring warmth, charm, and inspiration to homes and communities alike.
