Alan Majchrowicz: Capturing the Spirit of the Wilderness
Wilderness photographer Alan Majchrowicz has built a career that seamlessly blends his passion for the outdoors with his artistic craft. Born and raised in the Midwest, Alan’s love for nature began during childhood fishing trips to Northern Wisconsin. After receiving his first camera in high school, he quickly became fascinated by photography, later studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Inspired by the call of the Pacific Northwest, he relocated to Bellingham, Washington, in 1980, where the surrounding landscapes continue to fuel his creativity.
Specializing in landscape and nature imagery, Alan seeks out both grand vistas and intricate details that reveal the beauty and ever-changing moods of the natural world. For him, an intimate connection with his subject is essential, allowing his images to convey a deeper sense of place and emotion. This connection often requires returning to locations multiple times across different seasons and conditions, refining his vision until the perfect moment emerges.
After years of mastering large-format film cameras, Alan now works exclusively in digital format. His fine art prints are highly sought after by interior designers and corporate art buyers, enhancing spaces in healthcare facilities, hotels, corporate offices, and private residences. His work has also been widely published in advertising campaigns, tourism brochures, books, magazines, and calendars worldwide.
In addition to his photography, Alan shares his extensive knowledge of both photography and natural history through teaching, inspiring others to develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
