Jeanette Vertentes: Bringing Color and Movement to Life

Jeanette Vertentes is a contemporary painter celebrated for her vibrant, large-scale artworks that capture the beauty of the natural world. Living in North Stonington, Connecticut, near the sea, she draws inspiration from her coastal surroundings, gardens, and the companionship of her dogs. Her paintings—ranging from picturesque landscapes and seascapes to floral still lifes, animals, and farm fields—are known for their bold compositions, rich textures, and dynamic use of contrasting and harmonious colors.

Jeanette’s passion for art began in childhood when she trained under painter John Lutes, developing the belief that “you can create anything once you see it in your mind.” She later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from Rhode Island College, where she honed her skills in color theory and composition.

Today, Jeanette continues to share her love of art through her studio work, commissioned pieces, and teaching. During the warmer months, she showcases her work at some of the country's finest art shows, while winters are dedicated to teaching and creating custom works for her growing worldwide audience. Through her expressive use of color and texture, Jeanette Vertentes invites viewers to experience the energy, movement, and beauty that define her artistic vision.
