Katrina Pete: Capturing Nature’s Beauty Through Watercolor

For artist and illustrator Katrina Pete, painting has always been an essential part of life. Although she earned a degree in Medical Lab Science and spent 12 years working in the field, her passion for art remained constant. Encouraged by her family’s creative and entrepreneurial spirit, Katrina began selling her artwork on Etsy, where her success soon led to collaborations with a large greeting card company. Inspired by the possibilities of art licensing, she took a leap of faith to pursue her passion full-time, sharing her love of painting through both her artwork and teaching classes in her local community and online.

Katrina’s watercolor paintings are inspired by the natural world—moments from her garden, woodland walks, and outdoor adventures with her family. Fascinated by the changing light of each season, she captures the shifting color palettes that nature offers throughout the year. Her loose, expressive technique allows the watercolor to flow, bloom, and fade across the page, creating soft, organic compositions that evoke a sense of tranquility and wonder.

Having painted since childhood, Katrina’s artistic journey was enriched by numerous painting and drawing courses during her college years. Today, she lives and works as a full-time artist in Minnesota, where she continues to explore the beauty of nature while balancing her creative career with family life. Through her art, Katrina invites viewers to pause, appreciate, and find inspiration in the simple yet profound beauty of the natural world.
